Satellite phone rental?? Need Advice

Sounds like similar service than I got from mine. I didn't leave mine on the whole time, just powered up and sent a preset message a few times a day. I'm a fan!

Are you shutting it down completely or letting it go to sleep, or whatever it's called when the screen goes dark? I've been thinking about which would be better if it was ever pressed into service as a locator beacon. If it wasn't powered off, I don't think it would need to search for satellites before transmitting. But I assume just letting it time out so the screen goes dark uses more battery. Decisions, decisions...

I don't have the SE, I have an older model that pairs with the PN-60 if I need to type. I'm powering it completely off. I have forgot a few times, but still running on the origninal set of batteries with 2 weeks of use. I'll be using it again in Dec in Wyoming.
