Considering that I spend a lot of time with Sage Grouse conservation it seems odd that I would actually hunt them. I decided that 1 bird wasn't going to really affect the population so we set out this morning to get a couple. I twisted my ankle pretty bad so I only got one good walk in this morning but I managed to shoot a small hen. So my sage grouse hunting career began and ended in about 30 minutes. I suppose I won't say it's completely ended but I can't say it'll happen again soon.

Good deal! Those are about my favorite bird to hunt. Sure do miss hunting and work involving on a regulare basis...

Well done on the bomber. That is some good looking habitat. New reservoir in the background? WN concerns? ;-)

I need to go put one on Gunner's checklist before November gets here...

Yeah, you probably killed the last one that the skeeters didn't get....

From what I understand the reservoir has been there a while but it's dry (drying) like most of them in that area. This is a rested pasture (mostly BLM) so the range condition was quite good.

It was very odd that this was a lone bird...in fact we ran into several lone sharpies also.
