Roof project

We didn’t use our camper much at all last year. Pulled it to a Montana over the 4th of July this year, and during a thunderstorm downpour we noticed water dripping. No bueno.

When we got home I got up there and started poking around. Uh oh, soft spot. Ended up tearing out a 2x4 piece of roof decking. I would randomly find where water dripped on the bed, but thought it was a roof vent issue. Let it dry for a week and then closed it up



Bought a kit from Liquid Rubber to apply on the roof. It wasn’t cheap, but from my research seemed to be what I needed.

I’ll have the first coat completed today. Second tomorrow, third on Tuesday if it needs it.

Nice work. That would have been 3k at a rv repair shop and taken until until Thanksgiving.

Did you prep the roof before the liquid rubber application? Curious how you feel it "bonded" to the roof.

Been thinking of putting a coat on the entire roof of my '98 Nash.

Yes. Used the roof wash that came with it. Sanded it. Wiped it down with acetone. It feels like it is bonding pretty solid.

Im a believer in covering my camp trailers when not in use and all winter.
I think the sun is really hard on the roofing and the caulking.
I used to do the soft covers and it would take about 20 minutes to cover and fasten down. I now have a carport I park it under.
