RIP Robert Duvall

he truly brought out the magic in Larry McMurtry's writing in his portrayal of Gus McRae.

I always said if I had to pick an actor to portray my father in a Biography, Robert Duvall would do him justice.

I liked his portrayal of Boss in Open Range, and saw him as Robert Duvall in it and not as Gus McRae V2.

An all time favorite

A true actor who starred in Great movies from The Godfather to Open Range, to the Greatest mini series Lonesome Dove. From Tom Hagen to Gus McCray. RIP Mr. Duvall!

I used to love saying "I love the smell of neoprene in the morning" to all my duck hunting friends and they never understood the reference. RIP to the legend.

The “Ride of the Valkyries” scene is probably my favorite movie scene. Back when I worked in the woods, when warming a dozer or skidder up at daylight, I often thought to myself, “I love the smell of a diesel engine in the morning!” 😄

So many great roles. From the Godfather to Open Range. I used his napalm line also.
In the heat of summer I used to make early (4:00 AM) slab pours. We would be done by 9 or 10 before it got too hot. I'd always say " I love the smell of curing compound in the morning". RIP Mr. Duvall.

Open Range was very good. I also liked Broken Trail as well.
