Remington twist rates?

I got a Remington 700 made in 1971. It is . 308. Can anybody point me to a resource or advise what the twist rate of that barrel is.
My googlefu is weak apparently and I keep pulling up the current production twist rates.

Take a cleaning rod and a brush. Slightly insert in the barrel, stopping about 3 or 4 inches. Mark the rod with a sharpie at tha barrel and on top of the rod at the handle. Watch the mark at the handle. When it makes one turn while pushing the rod in stop. Mark at the barrel again. Clear the rod from the barrel and measure the distance of the two marks. Should give you your answer.
