Just purchased a new Rem. 597 22 magnum. Got a good price so I bought it.
Anyone own one of these ? Good or Bad ? Havenot fired it yet.Looking at some glass for it. Me and iron sights are not friends much any more.

Rem 597

This is a great little rifle except that Remington refuses to fix the problems with the magazine feeding properly. Why? Maybe because they can sell additional magazines for around $14. I have found that if you lube the interior of the magazine with silicone spray occasionally you may find some success with four or five rounds cycling properly. Also, Smith and Wesson makes a replacement magazine spring for one of their guns that is a good fit when cut in half for the Rem magazine. Check Google and you will find all kinds of comments on this issue. BTW, CZ has a relatively new 22 mag autoloader on the market. It's has the usual CZ "attention to detail" issues, but it will cycle through a full magazine w/o jamming.
