Relax, Everything is Going to be Okay!

I get big eye rolls from my fiancé whenever we go through customs as I opt out of facial recognition participation (as I do with TSA). This inevitably results in us sitting in a poorly lit windowless room at SLC for 20-30 minutes as they sort of punish us under the guise of “doing additional checks.”
Wait until you get interrogated before going on a domestic flight because of a political post you liked or shared.

You're conflating his base with moderate republicans and independents. Independents decide elections and an ever increasing percentage of which I think are becoming disgusted by this administration. Most of the independents don't need such egregious behavior to be turned off anyway.

His base can't decide an election, period. Republicans make up like 27-30% of the electorate and it's even a subset of that which would be considered his kool aid drinking, knee pad totin' base that wouldn't change their mind if Trump shot their mother in front of their own two eyes.

I think it's gonna be a republican blood bath this fall.
I have yet to talk to anyone who voted for Trump, who wouldn't vote for him again. I'll hope I'm just overly pessimistic, but I don't see where there any kind of "blood bath"

if you were right we'd be past trumps second term already. because nobody would've changed their mind right?

folks absolutely change their minds

How does a Republican lose by 14 points in a safe conservative Texas state Senate seat that President Donald Trump carried by 17 points in 2024?

canary in the coal mine, if you will.

Wouldn't that depend on what your other option is? Or does it have to be anyone else as long as its not orange man? I voted for him in 2016, 2020, not 2024.
Yep at the end of the day the Dems are beyond pathetic not being able to beat him in 24' because Harris was a terrible candidate. I haven't voted for either party's candidate in a decade.

Your assuming an awful lot about the point I was trying to make. It was just a simple question. No motive. Thanks for answering. BTW you referenced Biden first, thats why I asked the question about him.🤷‍♂️

You say you had no motive but that you were also trying to make a point, what point is that? I referenced the previous two Presidents to show how biased the media, and lots of folks, are towards Trump. It seems like a lot of the people who shat on the previous two POTUS, are completely Okay with worse crap when it comes to DJT.

Everyone should be held to the same standard and the amount of apologist for Trump is beyond ridiculous. The allegations against him are serious and should be beyond party line. I've shunned people out of my life for less and the fact that some are still defending DJT, is astounding.

Generally, I try to be a glass half full guy.

I do think there will be shenanigans and turmoil surrounding the mid term elections.

It really surprises me more partisan democrats aren't more disgusted with their own party. After all they literally handed him the election. On a silver platter, no less.

To me it shows a lot of the old dinosaurs in office are all cut from the same cloth.

The youngbloods in office are fed up but don't have the leadership positions yet.

Between you, I, and all the other rational humans, yes, but the point I made, and to be fair, much of my opinion is deliberate hyperbole, is that we continue to see what appears to be worse and worse behavior and actions from him, yet he continues to have strong support, often stronger support than previously. So philisophically no, it actually doesn't matter who's against him, because they will always be worse.

Maybe. Maybe not.

is this true though? or is this your hyperbole?

I think the polling data and the increase in denunciations from congressional, and notably, senate, republicans regarding things he says and does suggests otherwise.

Your not changing that. Unfortunately that door swings both ways. Plenty of folks are on the 180 spin of that as well.

Oh, I think the current iteration of the Democratic Party are the worst political party in my lifetime. They are so disconnected from society, and honestly, reality, that it's shocking.

Again, maybe. However, why wouldn't we just see those same independents or moderate R's vote third party? I still sense a strong, "anything but them [D]" flavor out there.

I guess one of the ways I organize it in my head is that the R party has some good ideas, but their candidate is a bad leader and worse human.

Vs, the D party is wholly disconnected from reality. But just about any individual, even with their flaws, doesn't seem like a terrible choice.

it still sounds to me like you're constantly talking about the MAGA base and Republicans and not the electorate as a whole.

independents by their very nature, if not definition, go back and forth. the turnout for 3rd parties/write ins i'm sure will be in line with historical average.

besides, i don't think you can do write ins for the congressional mid terms?
