Rear locker decisions..

It was constantly searching for a gear.
Fwiw, there is tuning available in the aftermarket for most automatic transmissions and certainly for American makes like Ford, GM, and Ram. Some engine tunes come with transmission tunes. Sure, it costs a bit of money, but can help MPG depending on the tune but also fix the searching issue. Up to you if that's worth dealing with, but the difference can be dramatic.

I don't have an explanation why the tunes from the OEM are so bad other than maybe it has to do with emissions, or maybe they just aren't good at it.

We bought new and the warranty prevented us from doing it. After our second trip out west, we dumped it as soon as we returned. Great comfort in a truck but a hot garbage driving experience with any type of grade.

I’ve been doing a ton of research and you’re the only one I’ve ever heard comment on transmission issues with the 6speed. The 10speed in 2018 was problematic and also had oil consumption issues

Well turns out 2015-2017 has reported issues as well. Pretty much everyone has transmission issues idk what to do here

Depends on where you want to use it. Here where I live it’s relatively flat. Most of the miles we drove were fine to get groceries.

Head west and hit Missouri or Nebraska where your constantly on a grade and it became obvious there was a problem. By the time we hit Wyoming it was miserable. No truck, not pulling a trailer, should be doing 3500-4000 rpm’s to maintain 75mph. It almost never went higher than 4th gear but loved to shift back down to 3rd.

Going down grade it would stay in 4th. Then in the valley it would hit 5th and coast a bit. The second trip I took a 2800lbs trailer with me. The gas mileage was terrible and I wasn’t sure the 5.0l was gonna live thru the experience.

I talked with the dealership about it and it was working fine within specs. They said it was designed to operate that way.

I took a loss and traded it in.
