Hello Again, I am in the process of purchasing a RCBS and want to know if it is a good press, I have a rock chucker but know very little about shotshell reloaders. Some help on the best powders to use for field loads 6 and 7.5 shot mostly. Which wads do people find as being the best. Any manuals that are better than others. I know this is alot info but I hate to get started without any knowledge and blow some SHI :BLEEP: up. Information would be greatly appreciated. As always HAPPY HUNTING hump

i have use a 600 jr. for years i load #6 shot most of the time as for powder it depends on what i am hunting (powders i use ww 540 , greendot, bluedot) it will depend on what you will want to reload

this year i started reloading steel shot

I have a MEC 600 also and hardly ever use it anymore. It's too slow. |oo
A progressive is the way to go. I really don't know if RCBS makes a good shotshell reloader. I've always heard good things about Ponsness/Warren. You might want to just check into them and see how they compare.
For powder we always used Red Dot for trap loads and light hunting loads and Blue Dot for the heavy stuff. Green Dot is a good all around powder.

Hey there AZHUNTERR how is the steel shot reloading going, I shoot alot of clays along with alot of steel, With the cost of steel it would seem to be cost effective to do so, although with light trap loads I don't quite think that it is. Any way there is a RCBS progressive press here in Nebraska that a guy is getting rid of and I don't know if RCBS is good, I know that there rockchucker is wonderful and customer service is great but I don't know anything about shotshell reloaders. I have read alot reviews and they all seem the same most are good with most having some sort of problem or can have a certain problem. I am not going to be reloading thousands of rounds so I will think somemore to see what I can come up with , Thanks for the info.

i have only loaded one box so far .. i have abou $50.00 in stuff to reload steel an i think i can get 10-12 boxes

i got a book from the sportsman (the complete reloading manual for the 12 ga. shotshell)

they pattern ok but havent duck hunted much this year.. going to hunt some rabbits to see how well they do

The RCBS seems to be an OK presss but is not popular in my area so I have not used one. Look to hodgens annual manual for data. It is always currant. stick to load data given and do not switch any components. Wads, well that is the shooters choice. they are all good but one brand may pattern better in your gun than an other.
