Public Lands Rule Recission

"The Public Lands Rule, finalized by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in April 2024, established conservation as a formal use of public lands, equal to other uses like mining, grazing, and recreation."

Finally BLM (AKA Bureau of Livestock and Mining) would have to consider conservation as a valid use of BLM lands. Why is this 2024 Rule unacceptable and deserving to be recinded? Ask Daines and Sheehy. They are suppose to represent us Montana hunters, fishermen, and conservationists but Daines and Sheehy (along with 10 other senators) sent a letter asking that the rule be recinded.

Because it was implemented under Biden and therefore it is unacceptable. They'll say that conservation isn't a 'use,' but the rule made it clear that conservation leases were intended to be active projects that restored degraded habitat or mitigated damages. It would have been cool to see some of the provisions in this rule implemented. Regardless of all the comments the BLM is going to get saying this shouldn't be rescinded, it will be.
