If you’re in the market for a MR pack you might want to check your local Scheels. I just picked up a Scapegoat 35 in Iowa City for $150.

Does the scapegoat have a load shelf?

No meat shelf, but I think it would still work decently for getting the first load out if you use it as a daypack.

nope, but it can haul an elk front shoulder/backstrap/tenderloin in the pack nicely for the first trip to the truck to get the heavy hitter pack.....I wouldn't trade my Scapegoat 35 for a large wad of dinero. Makes a great day hunter as well as deer/antelope rig.
