Prostate Cancer

My new doctor told me last week that like 4/10 men below 30 “live” with low testosterone. 8/10 men that are depressed have low testosterone. The test is in control of about everything in our bodies. Having low testosterone causes low estrogen which is bad because the estrogen helps to prevent prostate cancer. We are asking the wrong questions with doctors they wanna sell other meds to help manage things such as diabetes and cholesterol instead of giving a person something to prevent it.

I was concerned about my testosterone because of several various issues.

Had that checked when my primary did my lipid panel. My cholesterol was actually low, causing a lot of the issues. Cut my cholesterol med in half. Testosterone was 6xx, which is fine.

Ive been a lot better last few weeks.

Always be aware of your health, and all the components.

Little changes can make big differences.

To be fair to the doctors, it's not that they necessarily want to be managing diabetes and cholesterol with drugs, it's that the majority of individuals have poor health and need these managed by drugs and don't have any desire or drive to manage them with diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes.
My wife works in the medical field and we have a fair amount of doctor friends and I can't think of a single one that won't tell you until they're blue in the face that folks ought to eat healthier and exercise more frequently.

Well my first doctor told me I’m to fat and to loose weight. After 6 months of cardio and salads prior to this I told him it wasn’t coming off. Next doctor told me my test was in the 100s and my thyroid was a bit low and loosing weight would be impossible for me. At this point I believe you’re partially right but I also think there is more money in treating the problem that fixing it. I’ll also add doctor 1 told me I’ll need a cpap machine and doctor 2 told me she can get my stuff balanced in well enough to not need it.

Doctors are body mechanics in my eyes. I am my own health advocate. I expect a doctor to treat me for my own individual needs and requirements. I don't care if my questions extend past my allotted appt time limit. I am there to be fully treated based upon who I am, my physical condition, my age and all the other factors associated specifically with my body. Schedule tests etc based upon me not some chart of people that don't do chit to take care of themselves. There will be age related tests and I am fine with those recommendations. But there might be others based on who I am which need to be done. Oh yeah, the insurance coverage discussion but that is still my decision to make not theirs. If I want to pay for it then do it. I get a FULL physical every year though at 75 it is not covered by any insurance. So I pay for this physical and not cheap. I look at it that it is a PM on my body no different than something I do for my truck. Why don't we think this way for bodies like we do for our vehicles?

I've had hard discussions with doctors that don't provide the service I expect and pay for. And yes, we are paying for this service no matter what your insurance may be. Speak up and question everything. Especially on medications. Even regular docs can get blinded by their work load and overlook prescriptions you are allergic to and still prescribe it. Medical oversight and treatment is a meat market today and that is not my problem. I sympathize with their work loads but still not my problem. Not long ago, I was left in an exam room for a dermatology appt for over 2 hours with zero interaction with anyone. Why did I stay? I wanted to see just how long they were going to leave me there. My appt was 3:00PM and the doctor came in at 5:15. Gee sorry for delay. WTF. I asked if an emergency? No, I just decided to do a procedure instead of waiting for another appt. WTF? This didn't go well. If we are late? Holy crap you are freaking crucified.
