Got a springer two years ago and he is great on upland and does well with ducks. The guy I got him from has hunted over springers for ducks for the last 20 years and his dogs are great duck dogs. This is in northern ca so not as cold as MT but they do well. He kills a few hundred ducks over his dog every year.
