Planting trees

I've successfully dipped a hole with backhoe bucket, then scooped a tree with the backhoe bucket, carried it over to the hole, then place in hole with the backhoe bucket.
Easy way to transplant good trees growing elsewhere on your property and locate them where you want.
Pretty much how it'll go.

I’ve had great success with maples 3-4 feet tall. Had a nursery move and plant one 10-12ft tall. They somehow damaged the tree just above the rootball while unloading from the trailer. Died within a few days of planting. Since then I’ve stuck to small trees of various sorts and had no issues. I won’t buy another big tree to plant.

I'll echo what has been said already..Get some equipment. A 2' B&B can be ridiculously tough if not impossible to man handle. Its also nice to be able to lift it back out of the hole if need be, if a guy needs to dig deeper or add dirt. The heavy b&bs seem to settle a bit after planting so we plant them a touch high versus level.

I'd suggest you DON'T BUY ANY THING but seedlings and get them from your state tree nursery.

DON'T TRUST ANY ONE who makes their living selling you something.

I just want to thank you for the good laugh! I can only imagine the look on some nice old man's face when I tell him " no no sir, lets pass on ordering you that 8' b&b flowering crab. I'm going to plant you a beautiful seedling! It'll look absolutely beautiful by about the time you're 105."

Wouldn't matter though since he wouldn't trust me anyways!!!😂

Well you know what they say, "You don't always get what you want, and if you try sometimes, it dies on you any way." Or something like that.

No, I guess I don't know what they say. I do know that no matter what, if you plant enough trees or any plant for that matter, you're going to have a few that dont make it.
