I was mapping some dog towns today, so I thought I would share some pics with you varmint murders. :D

Just a ground squirrel, but they splatter as well.

Think you can hit this guy?

I didn't see chit for towns on my way through! Cool pictures though. You need to get another .223! :D

Lots of dogs out around here. Just a few days until season opens for public ground. I went out for a quick afternoon on private land already. They were educated already, but managed to get a couple.

I just can't get myself to use anything more than a 22 lr for squeakers. Anything more seems overkill.

Thats their purpose. Kinda like reactive targets. Red mist and acrobatic rats. Im off to Wyoming for some red mist fiesta with about a dozen other guys. I'll try to remember to get some pics. (tastefull of course.)

Are you kidding me!!!

Best P-rat medicine I've ever seen or used was a 6mm-284 loaded up w/ some 65 or 70 grain (can't remember) V-max.... Of course a 25/06 w/ 75 grainers basicly produces the same results.

When you're going for sheer body counts like we are tomorrow, nothing beats a dialed in AR...

Leaving at noon to do some recon for the morning... :D

BTW - Craig,

Just as a mental picture, Imagine this for that bottom pic! You start on the left, I'll start on the right, and we'll meet in the middle... A half dozen rounds are in the air before you can say -----... Anything making it out with it's life even partially intact, consider it lucky! :D

I grew up useing a 20 ga on gophers,then the 22,then the 25-06,then the 30-06 and then a 223 and 22-250 makes them fun.
A good ol'12ga loaded with No.8's make short work of family groups.LOL

So what would you varmiters call the critters in Millers pics?

I call them ground squirrels, but everyone around here looks at me funny.

I've heard them called ground squirrels, whistle pigs, chinkipins, prairie dogs, gophers, chislers, sage rat, ......to me they are all the same animal.

I'm surely wrong in that there are likely many different species and subspecies.

I just like the 22 lr for the squirrleys. I can dust dogs out to 200 yards with regularity. Of course, impact gives a "plop" instead of exploding parts. My 223 wssm comes out for chucks and coyotes.
