Trumpeter Swans showing up in an area that I have never seen them before. They are are very rare in this area anytime of the year.

Was standing in that very spot some years back, late afternoon, and nearly got slammed several times by cliff swallows working back and forth along the edge of the rim. Those little suckers can smoke.

Look who showed back up in the yard. He’s still alive. Flying like a champ and apparently feeding himself. The occasional clumsy landing, but he’ll at least get to try his hand at migration.
