Free range organic. 😬
Things got a bit hairy this morning. Heard a group of pigs in some thick brush so went in after them as I’ve been wanting some pork. Not sure how long I crawled along tracking them but when I finally caught up to within 30yds I was on my knees.
I couldn’t tell how many were in the group but I shot the first one that entered a opening. Then all hell broke loose, pigs running right, pigs running left and then pigs running right at me. I must have shot six or more that were running to me. Brush was so thick I only tracked and dragged these two smaller ones out. My shirt has a bunch of new holes in it now but at least I have some BBQ meat.

Seen a bunch of deer as well. The bucks are growing antlers and every doe I saw was knocked up for sure. I’m ready for fall.

I goofed and only brought one smaller cooler that has all my food and water, so I ended up only taking the hams and backstraps. They would have been perfect to skin and half for the smoker.
We use to just shoot them and leave them because we had so many. I could just walk or drive around all day and kill hogs. Now I hate to kill something and not eat it.

busted this one at a feeder tonight, even had time to take crappy cell phone video of the shot. He was way too heavy for me to lift into the truck so I started cutting him up right there. It was a ā€œheadlamp operationā€ as Randy would say. I get halfway through one side and something starts growling and circling me. Sounded like a big cat. I kept yelling as I finished up one side and got outta there. Don’t know if it was a cougar, bobcat, coyote or what. Pretty neat though, my cooler is full and in need of some ice. So I head home in the morning.

Congrats on the porkin! I know they cause a lot of problems, but man I think I could dig living where I have those to chase all year. Good eats!
It’s a love/hate relationship for sure. It’s nice having something big that I can hunt year round night and day. I different firearms and loads on them. I only ever get pissed during deer season when they push deer off and ruin my hunts.

Looks like you will be eating good for a little while! Congrats! That gun:love: btw
It’s just a Ruger American Predator that I chopped down to 16.5ā€, bedded into a Boyd’s stock and installed a Timney trigger into. It groups ok but not great. It’s killed a lot of deer though.

I stir fried some of the backstrap from that big boar tonight into some General Tso pork.
It wasn’t half bad.
