Looking to go to Pagosa for some turkey hunting, just curious if anyone knows of some dispersed camping spots within Pagosa? I have seen a few pull-offs on CoTrex that look suitable.

Lots of spots as soon as you get on the outskirts of town. When I was there I saw lots of turkey east of town along the river bottoms.
We did see a few homeless people car camping in town near the river.
This was back in 2019.

Pagosa is a great area. I was there in March and had turkeys all around our AirBnB. Just east of town in the Pinion-Juniper. I can't help on camping, but that should be a fun trip!

Almost all roads lead to public land. Most are closed until after may 1 then they start opening them depending on snow and mud supposedly. You can camp almost anywhere. I was there in mid April hunting turkeys roads were all gated at the highway but the hunting was excellent. Best spots then we're west and south of town but the birds should be dispersing into all the areas by now. Good luck.
