Had my group of 23 pushing swamps and thickets for bear yesterday. We put out 3 and took 2 of them.I personally think number 3 got hit some I'm going back to look for her a little this morning. We have a 4 day season so to be successful here we must drive out the bears.I think I crawled about 5 miles yesterday in those thick swamps.Too thick to stand and walk thru.My 15 year old son was one of the lucky hunters to tag out.I organize this group every year and its a ton of preseason work checking the swamps for bears. But its a ton of fun hunting with the group
Hopefully, big28hunter see's this and adds the photos. He's part of the group each year.In Pa any bear is legal and success rates are about 3%.I got mine 2 years ago so I push all day for the group. So awesome to see the faces of guys getting their first bear

Good luck! I have friends in Clearfield that invite me to come up bear hunting. My dad and his friend went upn a few years ago and got one.

You guys should take the trip. Then you'd never complain about overcrowded hunting areas where you live again, lol.Bear hunt is a fun deal each year with some great guys from all over the state that come to my area to hunt.I live in one of the highest densities for bear in the state, and we have giants here for the lucky few. They killed one over 800lbs not far from me a few years back, and 500-600lbers aren't uncommon. If you see where they like to sleep, you'd know why they grow old and big.We just got some young ones yesterday but the hunters were super happy.Tomorrow we go at it again

Congrats to all the lucky bear hunters in PA, I was one of the lucky ones, I got my second bear in PA this year , shot my first one back in 2004. We killed 3 out of our group of 5 hunters. All three were shot from a treestand in some of the thickest laurel you can imagine. Clinton county has been good to our group over the years.

I've been in Jersey Shore, PA during the bear hunt and went to the local weigh in station. It was a hoot. Bleachers and hot coffee. Some great bear being brought in by serious hunters.

Cushman, if you make it to St. Marys, check out the Straub Brewery. My father-in-law always brings a few when he ventures south to visit, it's good stuff.
