I've seen on archery talk and bowsite where groups of guys from all over the place have gathered to hunt together. I have been on 2 hunts like that with guys from archery talk. I thought it would be cool at some point to have a hunt like that with some HT guys. Find a place with OTC tags and get together for a week or so and camp and hunt and just have a damned good time. What's anyone else think about it?

That sounds cool. A chance for everyone to make new hunting buddies (which seems hard to come by sometimes). Would you have to limit it to a certain number of people or something though? Anyway I like the idea, would be nice to meet everyone that has the same stance on things as myself.

sounds like a great idea to me any ideas on what kind of hunt todo should keep the camp at least easily accesible incase guys want to come that arent as into deep backpacking hunts

I'm getting ready to go on my third archery talk hunt. This will be the second for hogs and the other one was an archery antelope hunt in Wyoming in an area with easy to draw tags. It's nice to get together and meet new people and see familiar faces again and have a good time in a relaxed atmosphere with like minded people

I'm up for this, now who wants to take me to their hunting hot spot? Anyone? Lol

sounds cool but I would not be able to do it till 2012 or so as I am already planning 2 out of state hunts this year.Would nebraska mule deer be a good idea?I think they are over the counter.I just dont want to step on anyones toes I dont think there is alot of nebraska guys here.

John,
There is a story in the Feb/March Bowhunter magazine about a group that did exactly what you are talking about in 1971 with 24 hunters. They hunted near Chadron NE for whitetail/mule deer and antelope. They ended up with 21 deer and 2 antelope. I hunted that area last year and there is lots of public land and OTC tags for both. Antelope were only $150 and I think the deer were around $200 each and you could buy 2 deer tags. Oklahoma is another option with otc tags.

I was already thinking about hunting NE this year. If the timing is right, this will be perfect.

Are you thinking firearm or archery John? Also as mentioned by someone else here oklahoma is an option.I have done some research on Nebraska in the past and it looked possible for a nonres to hunt with some good planning.Like I say if you guys would have me in camp I would be game for 2012.

If we did Nebraska we could do a couple days of archery and a couple days of rifle, or however anyone wanted to camp it and stay

I want a hotel close by with a nice comfy bed...That's how I camp ;) and I will do gun or archery. I'm up for doing one this year or next year or both!

I can't do it this year due to moving and school commitments, but there's no reason the rest of you can't get together and still do another one next year, or make it an annual thing

You could accomodate most people around the Chadron/Crawford area with Chadron state park and Ft. Robinson and numerous motels/hotels in town. If you wanted to gun and archery hunt around the second and third week of Nov would work pretty well. There will be lots of pressure from other hunters during gun season though.

I'd be up for a Neb hunt and to meet some more of you.Alot of leftover tags for deer and antelope in Wy. too.John, you could hop in my truck for the trip if your in NY at the time.I'm in Pa so not too far away

Sounds real interesting to me to. Anyone not booked this year for either Id or co riffle hunt OTC. I'm game. Either one will work for me. I'm just collecting points this year. I prefer a combo hunt. Gonna do it anyway and would like to gave some company.
