Outfitter Recommendations

I'm looking for any recommendations for Colorado outfitters who pack in spike camps for unguided hunts. Preferably muzzleloader season, OTC or I have a handful of points to burn so I'm open to any area of the state. Internet searches turn up lots of results, so trying to narrow it down a bit.

I’m going to tell you to subscribe to a Hunt application service/outfitter booking service for the simple reason that you have recourse if something goes wrong. These people deal with hundreds of outfitters and have learned how to ask the right questions to make sure you are a good fit.

The hunt in Canada that my father booked this last year was a perfect example. The outfitter mentioned that he had this Hunt with this particular method and it took us asking for it. There was nothing on the outfitters website that would’ve indicated that this was something that they did.

It’s not just about finding the right outfitter. It’s about the outfitter finding the right clients. It’s also about you asking the right questions and letting your Hunt advisor know what is important to you.

I see one particular service has a discount on their hunts for their members that they offer advisory services to that more or less pays for the subscription.

Yep. I think they give a good insight into the personalities of the outfitter objectively so you can decide if it is a good fit. Because you aren't asking the outfitter directly you can be more direct about what you want or need.

When I have booked with a broker they called with follow up questions about the outfitter. Not reviews, just checking up to verify they worked as they claimed.
