Opinion - Best Off the Shelf Muzzleloader?

I've been shooting a TC Contender .45cal scoped muzzy for several years now and have killed quite a few animals with it but have never been too impressed with the accuracy at 100 yards, so haven't pushed it any further.
I like the simplicity of 12ga primers, pellets and saboted bullets and would stick with that type of set up. No interest in the smokeless muzzys.

This thing will wear a scope and I want something with an easy to remove breach plug for cleaning and stainless finish. Probably will step up to .50 caliber.

What suggestions are there for something that can reliably reach out to 150-200 yards?

We’ve bought 3 CVAs over the last year, 2 optima’s and a wolf. All have shot well and are so much easier to clean than the older inlines. I’d love to play with one of the smokeless ones, it’s just not worth it here.

The CVA's are really hard to beat for the money. That Wolf V2 is a heck of a value for the $.

Westherby just released their 307 mzy a few weeks back. I watched their video and podcast on it, seems pretty good, lots of quality parts and thought put into it. Look it over, bit pricey but I dont have enough knowledge in the muzzleloading world to know good better best stuff

My CVA Accura MR-X .50 caliber is really accurate. My Knight Wolverine 209 Extreme is so accurate it is boring. The newest version of that rifle would be the Knight Bighorn. .50 caliber, 777 powder and a 275-300 grain sabot and it is money.

I also have a CVA Accura MR-X .50 with a Leopold scope and it is very accurate at 300 yards.

I have a knight mountaineer and a CVA wolf. The wolf is considerably cheaper than the knight, accurate enough, and easy to clean. The knight is a 250 yard killer that causes lots of taxidermy bills. I shoot 110gr BH209 and a 290 Barnes TMZ. There is nothing in my safe that I have any more confidence in. Affordability-Wolf, top end-Knight. I assume the optima or accura would fall in the middle of the two. Just my 2 cents.

Really any off the shelf inline muzzy is capable to 250+ yards these days with the right load.

I’d look at a Woodman Arms or TC Encore. Woodman arms also makes a high quality drop in stainless/nitrided replacement barrel for the TC Omega. No better corrosion resistant combo than that.

I bought a CVA Wolf 2 this year and I have no complaints so far. Shooting well and the breech plug is easy to remove. I would really look at CVA's if I were you. I had a Traditions before this and took a couple deer with it, but there's really no comparison between the 2. The CVA is way above the Traditions.
