OregonChris, where did you get the info that wolves were re-introduced into Oregon? mtmuley
Urban legend.
No wolves were reintroduced to Oregon. They just walked in and made themselves at home. The closest reintroduction was in Central Idaho. Unfortunately due to the politics in Oregon hell will freeze over before we will ever be allowed to manage them here. Also unfortunate is the fact that our elk populations in NE Oregon are already struggling so the end result will most certainly be a further reduction in hunting opportunity.
While working today I saw this sign on the back of a guys truck, it amused me so I took a pic to share with everyone

my ignorant opinion. i am open to correction on everything.
elk numbers are growing throughout most of their range at least that is my understanding. wolf numbers are growing in that same region.
Hunters have a tendency to harvest large successfully breeding males and females which are also the most likely to survive a hard winter.
wolves have a tendency to harvest the very young and the very old, the least productive breeders and the least likely not make it through a hard winter.
i do not oppose legal wolf hunting I very strongly oppose the poaching of any animal and I don't believe that there is another legitimate viewpoint for an ethical hunter to have.
If you truly believe that wolves are a huge problem, buy a tag and encourage your friends to get tags too.
the shoot shovel and shut up crowd just gives hunters a bad name and gives fuel to the anti-hunting crowd.
again just my ignorant opinion.
