Older Original Lead Sled

I'm looking for one of the old original Lead Sleds in decent condition.

I think this is an original one, I've had it forever and used it maybe three or four times.
I can see what it'll cost to ship if you're interested but I'm guessing it won't be cheap.

The original lead sled I'm looking for is the DFT. There's a DFT2 and 3 and 4.
I don't know which that one is but the original has 2. Tubes connecting front to rear. Here's a picture of a buddies.

To hold rifles dead still, for repeatable point of aim to take the other wobble factors out of load developing accuracy. In other words to take my shaky ass out of the equation.

It stops the recoil and that can break an optic.

Ive got one i want to throw away that you can have.

Not having any/much give is hard on the stock/optics because theyre normally using that movement to dissipate some of the energy.

A good rear bag + bipod/front support did a lot better foe me.

Sure.
I used a sled for about 3 years. Mostly to introduce my daughter to shooting her .308 with reduced loads.
Tikka T3 with a Leopold scope. Without a doubt the sled was harmful...after awhile I couldn't get that setup to shoot worth a crap. Shot the scope on two different rifles and still eradic. Finally sent the scope back to Leopold. They had to fix a few things.
Granted mid range scope. But still.
The more I researched the use of sleds the more I heard about similar situations.

Very informative. I'm not thinking about using one for a steady diet
I'm thinking just to qualify 3-4 shots for group, not using it for sight in.
@Forkyfinder I would take you up on it if you felt like the hassle of shipping it. It would certainly be worth paying the shipping for me.
I'll try a rear bag and bipod just because it sounds like a good idea!

I used it sparingly with no weight on it. I set it up on an old formica countertop and it slid around pretty good when firing. Got dialed in and switched to sandbags or resting on a padded bag for practice.

Same. No extra weight, not strapping gun down. Used one for 20 years same gun same scope. No issues. Sight a few rounds with it then switch to field scenario, never had an issue. Zero holds either way.

My experience with a lead sled was when I was verifying zero on a lightweight 270 after a flight. With the lead sled, I was way off my zero and my “zero” was moving. After almost a box of cartridges, I chucked the lead sled and found that my original zero was zero. That was in 2013, and I have not used one since.
