Numbers. Why?

I am not much of a big game hunter and like to see people's scores so I know what "class" of animal they are talking about. I have a feeling a lot of people are full of shit when it comes to scores being thrown around . My lowest scoring elk is my favorite elk hunting memory.

Why do numbers matter? mtmuley
It's a good question. I think deep down all hunters and men especially, want to compete and be the best that they can be at what they do. This probably plays a part in the pursuit of trophies or "numbers" .

For me personally im a young hunter and im at the stage of "If it's brown, it's down" know what I mean? 😅

When you see an exceptional animal it makes my heart skip a beat. They are rare and impressive to see. You know when you see something that isn’t ordinary, doesn’t change how they taste though.

Big antlers next to small ones on the same hillside and a tag in my pocket I’m obviously shooting the big ones. But I’ll continue to shoot forkies, cows, and spikes without any hesitation or consternation. Antlers really don’t seem to add much to the memories and fun of a good hunt.

Though, finally having shot stuff that will amount to something I found it fun to tape and to know. And it definitely adds to the fun to think about trying to best yourself in that regard. It is sure fun to look at em on the wall. I do get it. But, lbs in the freezer and good times outside is where it’s at.

Never killed anything big enough to bother. There are some big ones around but the pumpkin army doesn't let you get picky. I liked to eat, so if it was brown and past the spot phase it went in the freezer. My version of numbers was how many points. I've killed everything from button bucks through 10 point. (eastern count) Never could get that 11 pointer!
