Lots of nice bears here in Manitoba. Thompson is about 8-9 hours north of the US border and you don’t need to go that far to shoot a bruin.
Definitely a Thermocel is recommended. I used one in a ground blind at a bait and it was like a wall the mosquitoes wouldn’t penetrate and the bears didn’t seem to notice any more smell.
