I spent the last 4 days looking for something to put a tag on. I passed several that I'm kicking myself for now, especially when the other guys all managed to settle for something less than a #1 all time typical Booner. So it goes. We hunted some public land that was recently acquired. I'm in love with this property.

Had a little 3 year old 4 point whitetail that was high and tight come within about 50 yards of this spot. Coyote at 20 feet. This is how I spent my election day.

Lost count of how many coulees I walked. Certainly lost another notch on the belt.

Not a bad spot to sit and glass.

Next week: does. Lots of them. A freezer full of them, if it all comes together again.

BTW - I could not be happier with my Theron Wapiti's. They were crystal clear in low light and the image definition was fantastic. Thanks Schmalts!

I jumped the back fence at lunchtime today, took the 20g for a walk. No squirrel(or rabbit) meat in the pasta for dinner... Wasted a few hours deer hunting, but my buck is nocturnal already. Maybe I'll catch him slipping after Christmas with my flintlock.

That looks like super fun country to hunt whitetails. Even though I hunt them here in IN, one year I'm definitely gonna head west to try for them in country like that.

Thanks for sharing.

Good to see you away from the political fights. You did good for resident hunters and anglers; now take some deserved time for yourself. Doing a walk around on freshly opened public land is always a fun adventure.

I have never had as much fun as I have on this hunt. Amazing country.

We're headed down to SW MT for some more hunting next week. With any luck I'll be able to break off and look for a bull or cow in an open district. I can't believe how fast this season is going!

I don't necessarily agree with your politics, but glad to see you are getting a chance to go out since you've been busy. ;) I'm headed to SE Montana tomorrow. Roads are already SHITTY, looks like there will be too much seat time int he truck!!! Good luck hunting!
