NM Unit 16

Howdy everyone! I hope all of you are just about ready to roll for your upcoming hunts - I'm almost ready myself.

So just wondering if anyone has been up in 16 recently? With all the rain and weather that they've gotten this year, I'm curious about the condition of forest roads and the general outlook of the area. Any insight that can be provided is appreciated.

Which part of 16's?Which unit?
I have a deer tag for 16(all),but as usual seeing elk and not many deer.lol

Roads are better than usual from what I see. We haven't gotten the deluges like last year.

I will be in 16A second season rifle Elk (end of October). Anything you could pass along would be great.

Thanks Hank. I'll be in 16c for the first couple of weeks in September.

Lasted year I saw many, many deer (first time ever) while riding FR 696. They were hanging mainly south of the road in all those smaller arroyos and canyons that drop into Taylor whitewater. I'll be looking in there after I tag out an elk. I was lucky enough to draw both elk and deer in September. Check it out. I hope we can find them in there again this year. It was a bunch of them in groups of 6 to 10.
