NM Coues deer

I'm exploring the idea of applying for a Coues tag (Forked antler) in SW New Mexico next year. Anyone have any experience with Coues in New Mexico? Is there a large enough population to make it worth spending a draw slot on vs. sticking with mule deer units? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
