I have been chasing a few nice bucks in the little bit of land I have to hunt in my back yard, we are right on the edge of Suburbia NW of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. Last Thursday night I had an encounter with the biggest one I have seen in the area this year, he is a monster in my book, probably would score in the 150-160" range. I texted my buddy that lives a mile away and told him I had seen the big boy, and he send me a picture back and asked if he looked like this?
The guy in the picture hit this deer with his truck about 400yds from my closest stand, my buddy knows him, he called the sheriff and got a posession tag and took the deer, so that is good. I don't know him well so I thought I would make him a little less identifiable. This is one of the 3 nice bucks that I have been seeing in our area, not the monster I had seen that night, but would have still been a great trophy in my book.
This is the trouble with hunting in suburbia I guess. It seems like every year around this time I see really nice bucks getting smoked on the shoulder. I will be back out tonight looking for the big boy.
