Forest grouse, like deer, are creatures of the edges. You tend to find them on ecotones -- say the edges of a clearcut or logging road and adjacent forest, in case of ruffed grouse, or in the treeline near the alpine, in the case of blue grouse. They tend to eat similar things -- bugs in the spring and summer, leafy herbs and berries in the fall. That said, there are significant differences between species. But they share one important quality: they are delicious!
