You are mistaking people's general politeness and aversion to confrontation, with agreement.

Yes, as an Independent I had to vote for the Democratic candidate. Trump lost any respect or credibility when he stated that Senator John McCain was not a hero. Trump further stated he did not like those who were captured. Trump characterized POWs and Vietnam Veterans as "losers".
For me as a two-tour Vietnam Veteran that was blasphemy coming out of the foul mouth of a political wannabe. Trump's lies and subsequent actions have only increased disdain for him as a person.

True enough, one party put up the same bad candidate three times consecutively.

Whatever fault the political parties bear, there is more left for us, as a society.

Both parties let the electorate pick their nominee. These are the candidates we have chosen, with the exception of Harris. She was a pinch hitter given the circumstances. I doubt she could have prevailed in an normal primary.

One ongoing problem that is rarely confronted, is our mounting debt. I have doubts that it will be confronted, since any solution that would work, will be politically unpopular.
