New threat to 2nd A?

Rare photo of bonasa hard at work looking for news articles and reels that agree with his opinion to post.

Funny thing about living where the news is happening...all the news media cover it. And I mean all of them...multiple disturbing reports every day! No looking needed if you follow any local news at all.

Thanks
for asking...here's another one...

All this news just increases the chances that pro gun control forces win big next fall...at the state and national levels.

Passed right by each other like ships in the night man.

It is an interesting time when R’s begin to question the administration’s commitment to 2A. But I feel the need to point out there is major difference in making a statement “You shouldn’t be carrying guns” and passing piles of legislation that strip away the right to bear arms and erode due process and other constitutional protections. One instance is talk (at this time), the other is tangible action to punish legal gun owners and slowly over regulate gun ownership out of existence. Look no further than the legislatures in CA, IL, WA, OR, and CO (CO averages 8 anti-gun bills a session with 3 on the wings right now). Last time I checked MAGA didn’t control those governing bodies.

Oh wait looks like VA just joined the club, so much for “moderate” Spanberger.

The damage by this administration is already done. Those video clips are going to be used forever.

I think so too.

The only hope is for widespread and direct pushback by sitting republican legislators.

I wouldn't hold your breath...in my state the federal Republicans continue to parrot everything Trump wants them too...they have of course been unwilling ti show their face in public or address Trump and his administration's attack on the 2nd.

There are some longtime popular republicans sweating over this now....for example, I saw Susan Collins is seriously threatened by strong challengers.

If (whatever current administration) decides how, when and where you are allowed to carry with whatever reasoning. You don't have 2a rights anymore.

Erosion of the 2A is the thing both D and R can get behind if someone gets shot in the back after being disarmed the R's will call them a domestic terrorist and smear them for having a gun and the D's will try to add legislation. Suddenly the government is working again!

Here is a bush appointed judges opinion on about 100 violated court orders this month. The Trump administration it completely ignoring the laws that govern our country. The media is being told to stay the F out of it or face retribution.

Rand Paul is on 60 minutes right now.
Among other things the administration's statements that conflict with 2nd amendment rights are being discussed.

That’s a great point on dictating where you can carry. Colorado legislature has eliminated carry in basically every public space. You can carry in your home, some private property, and forests. Pretti would have likely been violating Colorado’s gun laws if he was in Denver. And you would be correct in pointing out that we don’t really have 2A rights in the People’s Republic of Colorado.

It is absolutely concerning that gun owners will lose as both parties look to punish them to score political points.

Guns no longer allowed in DC? Has it always been this way?

Yet another indication of the Trump administrations stance on the 2nd amendment.

For those not aware, Trump appointed Pirro.

And--she's a lawyer!

Remember--the "Heller" from the ground setting Heller decision came from DC! He was a security guard or cop who needed a gun for work but was not allowed to have one in his home.

Just another Trump official who wants to ignore the 2nd and the decision that helped solidify our rights-- which came from her own District!

Both parties suffer from purity tests for sure. Nothing tolerant about current CO Dems in the General Assembly.

Regarding red flag laws, the devil is in the details. As constructed here, a gun owner loses any semblance of due process when an order is levied on them from an anonymous accuser. No ability to contest it. I suppose the legislators believe the public safety benefit outweighs the constitutional rights of the individual. Then must prove they are no longer a danger to achieve cessation of the order. Hard to prove a negative.

Just today they introduced a bill that would ban private transfer of firearm barrels, require FFL transfer and record keeping of any purchase or transfer of a firearm barrel. No public safety benefit, just more regulation to squeeze gun owners and the industry while building out a registry and surveillance state aimed at lawful gun owners. We are expecting more bills this session. Multiple reports they are planning to run a state-level ban on all NFA items, including suppressors. They are keeping it under wraps until official introduction as to limit pushback from suppressor owners. Colorado is gonna be Archery-only in a few years at this rate!
They answer to this is to drop a dime on a few state legislators.

We are long ways from me condoning political violence.

Perhaps related to the reason we got here - too many are too quickly. What was I saying about jumping to irrational conclusions too quickly?

Who was screaming about Clinton returning Elián González back to Cuba? It wasn't the left. Right wing talk radio made a lot of hay on that little deal. The right was proudly quoting "Give me your tired...".

Everything is different when your tribe is in power.

Cleaning out my dad's house and I found a "Don't blame me. I voted for Trump" hat from 2020. Any keyboard warriors volunteering to sport that on the street today?

The problem with barrels is that gang bangers and others can keep the gun they used in a crime or to commit murder and just swap out the barrel. Maybe still questionable but I wouldn't say there is no valid reason to regulate.

What concerns me with some red flag laws is not that you can't face the accuser but that done wrong they can discourage someone with mental health concerns from seeking help.

In my state family members. attorneys, and Law enforcement can petition to have guns removed. Two of my kids are therapistts and they all have mandatory reporting requirements but only if they deem the person an imminent threat to themselves or others--and they can't petition to have guns removed, family or LE has to do that. It's up to a judge to decide and it's not permanent--I think the max is up to one year, and the person whose guns are taken can petition to have the order rescinded--but the burden is on them.

I don't disagree with you at all but lets all try not to paint all law enforcement with the same brush. There are lots of dipshits in just about any profession.

Lets also not forget and understand that humans (as a whole) need to be governed to prevent complete and utter chaos in the streets and everyday society.
Without laws and people to enforce them, there would be so much chaos that it would make what we have seen so far in our lives look like a weekend picnic at the park. And I know that you and most everyone else understands this, I'm just making a point that we need law enforcement of all kinds. Could they do a better job? Yes. A criminal with a badge is far scarier then any illegal immigrants in my book is something I 100% agree with.
Do other professions have guns and qualified immunity? When you hang out a thugs for hire sign, you get thug applicants.

To say that all professions have dipshits is well and good. Are there computer techs or farmers out there shooting protesters?

Yes and I was issued a ticket for it. That's a bit of a stretch to compare getting a speeding ticket to sneaking into another country. I think even you can find that to be a laughable/ridiculous comparison.

These arnt speeding ticket violations guys.....These illegal aliens are breaking FEDERAL law(s).
Pot is still Federally illegal. I bet a large number of HTer are right now breaking this FEDERAL law. Should they be worried?

Possibly.
