New threat to 2nd A?

Change the law? Work on a reasonable streamlined path to citizenship for those worthy?

Great Idea!

Problem is, Donald Trump does NOT agree.

He told Republicans who were lined up to insure passage of a bill that would have been a good first step with thst...AND given presidents more authority in how we deal with asylum claims..to vote AGAINST it. They did.
Why do we need new laws if the current and past governments don't enforce the ones on the books now...
There are multiple categories of those taken by ICE.

US citizens who couldn't produce papers showing citizenship.

US Citizens whose papers were not considered and they were taken away anyway.

Aliens who did it the right way, asking for asylum or on the legal path towards citizenship who have the legal right to be in this country until a decision is made on their status.

Aliens who are strong candidates for citizenship who did not claim asylum or start the long process towards becoming a citizen.

Aliens who have committed minor crimes, paid their dues, and been solid since release.

No one...despite the false narrative continually parrots by Trump, most Republicans, and MAGA Kool aid drinkers...is saying we shouldn't detain/arrest the really bad actors and criminals.
There are sanctuary cities protecting illegal immigrants from being deported
The reality is that those being taken overwhelmingly come from those other categories.
that doesnt change the fact they should come here through the correct legal pathways. If that needs updated then take it through the correct process, it doesnt mean let in 13 million illegal immigrants in because you feel like we need more ag workers.......

we don't ned more people in this country we need less we are taxing our current resources beyond what they can support.

I did find something I like about canada looks like they have some good immigration laws I wounder why that is?

All these rights some of you on here and probably every protester all of sudden care very passionately about right now. Did you care about them not to long ago when you were deemed non essential and wearing your mask while obeying your marching orders getting the covid vax and 17 boosters so you could participate in society? Spare me with this trampling rights bullshit. Ya didnt care then so why do you care now.

Yes I actually quit my federal job in protest of them not hiring seasonal employees who were not vaccinated.

A lot of us cared about those rights then and now. Pretty damned frustrating when people are OK with the other tribe's rights not being observed and being ignorant enough to not realize their and all of our time will come soon and/or with more emphasis if we foster those types of attitudes as a country.

Yeah, I suspect we're not all that far apart on this. I'm not incapable of seeing the situation from their perspective. I don't believe that they just decided to execute someone on the street because they didn't like him. But being understandable and being defensible are different, IMO.
That still doesn’t warrant firing without being able to articulate what the imminent threat is.
Very much agree with your last paragraph, but not the first. I’m open to the learn more of the facts that led to what happened, but Pretti sure didn’t appear to be looking for a confrontation in those videos. The ICE agents however…

I get that he was there, camera up, in the middle of it, but in my mind that is far different than getting in those agents’ faces pushing and shoving. It looked like peaceful assembly on his part.

With more consideration, I can't disagree with you guys.

If this country doesn’t grow its population, it’ll end up in a deflationary economy similar to Japan. You can’t afford resources with a lower population tax base. The US has had the greatest economy in the world in part because of the population growth from 132 million in 1940 to 341 million in 2025.

Stable population needs 2.1 births per woman. U.S. is not meeting that number.IMG_4826.jpeg

The U.S. makes up for the birth gap with immigrants. Freeze immigration and the economy tanks. There needs to be continued population growth in the country or the economy starts to stall. Either start increasing births or fix the immigration issues. IMG_4824.jpeg

Those "rights" weren't what I recall from my basic HS Civics class.

Turns out court after court didn't think they were rights either.

I know the family of the 50 something very healthy preacher who died from covid that we know sure wish more people didn't think like you, maybe he'd still be alive.

It has been a nice winter day. So I took a horse and my puppy, and gave her a good run. She got into three groups of sharptails, pointed all of them briefly, ripped them out, and chased them. She had a blast. I can see a very nice dog in the future.

There have been quite a few subjects mentioned, while I was having fun.

My opinion on a few of them.

I could more easily agree to a permanent legal status for undocumented persons, than a pathway to citizenship. There has to be something of a sanction for sneaking into the country.

The financial cost of tracking down and deporting every last undocumented person is consistent with how Uncle Sam wastes money without much consideration. It would not surprise me if the cost per individual was >$25k.

Comparing the January 6 riots and what is happening in MPLS, has distinct differences. The LEOs on January 6 showed tremendous restraint. Many of them were beaten severely. Ashli Babbit was not backing away from anything, when she was shot and killed. If the cops on January 6 were one tenth as aggressive as ICE is in MPLS, there would have been dozens of rioters killed. The doorway where they gained entrance would have been stacked with bodies.

Are you suggesting that if I got the vaccine someone might still be alive. You take the cake pal.

According to the article, in his 2009 deportation, they stated gang affiliation, so I'm assuming he would never have been granted legal status. I can't speak to the accuracy of their assumption of gang affiliation, but in the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia and many other recent ones, the presence of any tattoos or wearing certain styles of clothes or hats is enough which seems pretty questionable. Hell, @Rack Daniels might get booted for his flatbrims ;) I think one thing is pretty certain, if he was affiliated with gangs in the US, the people in Froid would know.

All I’m going to say is tattoos and clothes is definitely enough to be labeled a gang member even if you’re not. Happens to a lot more people than you’d expect….
