Why do we need new laws if the current and past governments don't enforce the ones on the books now...Change the law? Work on a reasonable streamlined path to citizenship for those worthy?
Great Idea!
Problem is, Donald Trump does NOT agree.
He told Republicans who were lined up to insure passage of a bill that would have been a good first step with thst...AND given presidents more authority in how we deal with asylum claims..to vote AGAINST it. They did.
There are sanctuary cities protecting illegal immigrants from being deportedThere are multiple categories of those taken by ICE.
US citizens who couldn't produce papers showing citizenship.
US Citizens whose papers were not considered and they were taken away anyway.
Aliens who did it the right way, asking for asylum or on the legal path towards citizenship who have the legal right to be in this country until a decision is made on their status.
Aliens who are strong candidates for citizenship who did not claim asylum or start the long process towards becoming a citizen.
Aliens who have committed minor crimes, paid their dues, and been solid since release.
No one...despite the false narrative continually parrots by Trump, most Republicans, and MAGA Kool aid drinkers...is saying we shouldn't detain/arrest the really bad actors and criminals.
that doesnt change the fact they should come here through the correct legal pathways. If that needs updated then take it through the correct process, it doesnt mean let in 13 million illegal immigrants in because you feel like we need more ag workers.......The reality is that those being taken overwhelmingly come from those other categories.
we don't ned more people in this country we need less we are taxing our current resources beyond what they can support.
I did find something I like about canada looks like they have some good immigration laws I wounder why that is?
