NEW STATE RECORD UTAH CHUB CAUGHT IN FLAMING GORGE

SHERIDAN - For the third time since 2005, Rock Springs angler David Franke has established a new state record for the Utah Chub.
In 2005, Franke set the Utah chub record twice, with his last 2005 entry weighing 1.26 pounds. Last week, a little over five years later, Franke was again fishing Flaming Gorge, this time in the Sage Creek area, and broke his own record with a chub weighing 1.73 pounds.
Coincidentally, as with his previous records, Franke was fishing for smallmouth bass and trout and using the same lure, a Mepps Black Fury, that he had used to catch his previous records. Franke's chub was 15 inches long and had a girth of 10 inches.
