Caribou Gear Tarp

New painting underway

Couple new pictures from my sit this afternoon. This section has been a bit tricky but I like a challenge. The 1st pick is where I left it this evening.

Saturday has Ben a good day. Only two customers to interrupt the day. I like what's happening here. I'm not done with the rocks on the left yet but you can see where I'm going with them . Thanks for following. Constructive criticism welcome.

I had a good talk with my youngest son, engineer, who's followed my art closely over the years with a strong ability to add constructive criticism. He also added , it was probably not the best theme to go after since you haven't painted in 8 years. I said, you think. LOL.
He also realizes I've have a long way to go on this.

That’s really cool! I wish I had any artistic ability. My son and I were fishing an mountain lake last summer and there was a guy painting it. I walked up and talked to him out of curiosity. In 10 minutes I went from knowing nothing about and not understanding painting, to appreciating how he took in every detail of the landscape he was studying and taking in.

Stocker, I've painted a good bit on location and always had curious folk walk up and ask questions. All ways enjoyable. I was doing a painting of DC sky-line years ago on Claira Barton Pwky in Va. and would get people stopping on the side of the highway and asking questions so much so I thought about putting a sign up I'm not tourist information .

Yeah I walked up and asked him where he saw people catching fish while painting lakes, he didn’t have any good info so I tipped his easel over. Lol

No, I really just wanted to see what he was doing. He told me he was retired and his hobby was to travel around and paint mountain landscapes, generally lakes. The older I get the more I appreciate other peoples hobbies. Just because I like to live like a homeless person in the wild while wondering around with a weapon and eating tag soup doesn’t mean everyone else does.

nature hobbies can be cool, finding drift wood around lakes, Mushroom hunting, or just take a sketchbook and pencil and have a seat. You Tube has a lot of how to's on nature crafts drawing it's all there just to get you pointed in a dirrection.

Working on the ram a few hours today, starting to enjoy this more each sit. Something about a challenge that settles me down.
It's a bit off thought for some of you but this painting is reading me for turkey season. Patience
