New Mexico Unit13 deer

Talk about a tough hunt this year. 3 weeks of off and on hunting and not a deer. Hunted out by the El Malpais monument. We found some awesome deer sheds throughout the month, but hardly any fresh sign even near water sources. Hopefully Jan. will bring some better luck.

That is tough country. Lots of country and not many deer. I lived in Alamogordo for 10 years and from what people told me, there were some huge deer there. It is vicious country full of jagged rocks and BIG snakes, but does hold some real trophies.

January is always better, as it is during the rut.
