Hey guys i drew an Sept 1-14 Elk Archery tag here. Just trying to figure out the ins and outs of 48. I can swap info on CO, KY, WY, MT thanks so much on any thing you can provide. 3 time BHA lifetime member. THank you

Good advice from 'BDH' - access utilizing ePLUS is quite helpful in this unit. And the State land issue does create some strange dynamics for when you can and can't be on the premises. Good luck!

Currently shopping for an atv . Sounds like that is a must. All our states have different land rules . Maybe at some point they’ll all get on the same page. Thank you,,

I drew a muzzleloader tag for this unit. I live in the area and have submitted a request for the State land permit so I can do some scouting this summer.

If anyone has any tips for how best to hunt the unit please let us know. Mostly concerned with how best to navigate the public/private land issues. I have an OnX subscription as well.

Will continue to provide updates here as my scouting gets ramped up over the summer.

cruising those state land roads and talk to those you run into. Coors lattes might help gain some local intel. I assume you have NM plates.

Yep - I have NM plates. Good call on the lattes - will make sure the cooler is full.

Just got my state land permit as well. Have the side by side and will start to do some scouting when my shcedule allows later this summer.

Can you verify what the E-Plus ranches mean? I know it means landownwers get tags they can then sell. And those hunters can access the whole unit not just the landowner land correct?

If all that is correct I'm not sure what the E-Plus access mentioned above means.

You are correct about the E-plus, another member on here of the NMGF website can give better insight than I.

I checked with the warden and was told anyone with a valid tag can hunt on the Eplus land.
