Jake & I cut out over the 4th of July weekend for a quick trip to the area where I will be hunting elk this fall. Though I would post a few pictures.

We flew into Salt Lake City and rented a car. The first stop we had to make was at the Bonneville Salt Flats since I am into cars & speed.

Jake making his speed run.;)

After long hours of searching and glassing

We did see a few colorful critters.

and flowers

At the end of the day I took Jake to the cabin where I had made reservations.

He wasn't impressed, so I had to rely on a backup plan.

Now I do have a serious question. These next two pictures, what would have done that to this poor tree. It looks somewhat fresh, at least to me, but I would think it is to early for deer or elk to be thrashing a tree like this. Your thoughts?

Thanks.

I kind of figured that was what it had to be.

Well, beef is good, too.:p:D

We was there a couple of weeks ago enjoying a concert and the golf course. Are you sure that there are elk and deer in that neck of the woods????

Don't know about elk or deer, but we did see quite a few cows there.;)

Kind of interesting, the first night we were there, the 4th, for some reason the electricity was out in that part of the town, we had to go further north a ways to find a place to eat and watch the fireworks. No electricity in the cafes, motel rooms or anywhere except in the casinos. Somehow they managed to keep them up and running.

Did you guys find any bulls? Doesn't look like you were going to get off the main drag much in that rig!

Didn't find any bulls, did see a herd of cows on private.

Yea, we were limited on access some, but we did get some dust on it.

What speed you get the rental car up to out on the flats? Surely it was the perfect place to red line it through the gears...

Nice weekend away, beats sitting at home thats for sure. Good luck on the hunt.
