Starting the thread sitting in the airport waiting on our plane. Packed up with soft sided coolers in our larger suitcases and my son’s rifle in the hard sided case.
Checking in the rifle went smoothly, so far the flights are showing to be on time (should knock on wood there since it is a Friday afternoon usually everything should be running late).
Fun fact, Reno, Nevada is further west than Los Angeles, California and would have been a 21+ hour drive for us so we decided to take the easy way out and hire a guide on this one.
This will be the first time ever using a guide for me in North America, but to save the hassle of driving out there and back or trying to sort out a useable rental vehicle that would be capable of driving off road we decided it was going to be worth it. Plus we really didn’t have time to scout and this is supposed to be a pretty good unit so guided it is for this hunt.
This will be my son’s first time pronghorn hunting. He went with me for one day in Wyoming when he was like 5 years old but I don’t think that really counts. He’s holding the tag and I’m along for support. Pretty fun feeling.
Of course in the 5 minutes it took me to thumb this out on my phone the flight is delayed 15 minutes but we should still make our connection in Las Vegas. Hopefully that’s the last delay.
We’ve talked with our guide a couple times on the phone and a few texts back and forth. No monster buck located but some decent ones. We are going to meet up this evening once we get there and make a plan for tomorrow.
