I worked over the spring and summer to gain access to two large pieces of private property which butt up to the ranch I currently hunt on. We also hunt the surrounding public land. The two new areas hold higher numbers of antelope than the ranch we are currently on and the public land.

When scouting, I found some nice antelope and stumbled into a group of whitetails with a few good bucks. I have hunted this general area hard for five years and seen one only one whitetail, so I was surprised to find this group of animals. I watched a total of 7 whitetail bucks, along with misc. does and fawns, come out of the same wooded draw two nights in a row. I did take a picture of a stud 4x4 as well, but it did not turn out.

I will be going out again in three weeks to put out antelope blinds. I will be watching these deer for two nights in a row. If they continue to come out on the same trails, I will hang a couple of stands before I leave and I think I will have a fair chance at arrowing one. It is hard to concentrate at work!

Looks like a dandy 'lope, best of luck. It looks like my scouting won't start until I get there in early September.
