The ones in waterfowl are very visible, but I’ve also seen sarcocysts in elk heart muscle. Oddly enough, they were much smaller and less noticeable.

Rice breasts... it's a parasite we get a ton of them off the horn and Yellowstone rivers.
They Say it's safe for consumption but I'm not eating a parasite

Weird. @Hunting Wife you ever see those parasites in deer? I know my dad and I have butchered a few that had similar’ things in them.

I honestly don’t remember. Maybe? I’m sure they have a Sarcocystis too.
In my experience it tends to be kind of location dependent. You’ll see it a lot in some places, not so much in others. It has a two stage lifecycle that requires two specific hosts, so those hosts have to overlap spatially for the parasite to complete the cycle.
