Thanks man! Don’t tell me where it was cause with my luck there would be a monster there haha! I still have 5 trail cams out and I’m afraid to check em lolCongrats on your bull. I had a location for you to scout but you handled business.
Get a ram!!!
The foil of having two of the three. Thanks man! Don’t tell me where it was cause with my luck there would be a monster there haha! I still have 5 trail cams out and I’m afraid to check em lol
Congrats on the bull! Enjoy the freezer full! Good work with the bow! This is the biggest bull I’ve seen all year and I’m happy with him! Not gonna lie, I was hoping for a bigger one earlier but I had some great encounters and met some great people so am thankful for the experience. As I was stalking him I knew he wasn’t huge and was half wishing he would spook and run away, but there were multiple factors that made me decide to shoot. I just wasn’t seeing a lot of moose and most people were telling me that it can be real tough after the rut. What if this is the last opportunity I have? And I still have a sheep to chase! One of the biggest factors was that my wife’s grandmother has stage 4 pancreatic cancer and is basically on her deathbed. So with that in mind we will likely need to make the trip back to Missouri for the funeral sometime soon…
A big thanks to everyone who responded to PMs etc and helped me out with advice for this hunt!
Another thing- doesn’t my bull look like a near identical twin to the one @CB2412 shot?! Pic abovehis might be a touch bigger but I think they have the same number of points and look pretty similar to me!
Thanks man appreciate it! Yeah I think the freezer will definitively be full!Congrats on the bull! Enjoy the freezer full! Good work with the bow!

You make me wish that I had a big brother growing up. Nice work!Thought I would add a quick story of a hunt with my youngest brother Austin this morning. It was opening day of youth season. When I was moose hunting I had hunted a small piece of public that had quite a few whitetails on it. Didn’t see any real big bucks but figured it would be a good spot for youth season.
Good chance some of you will recognize the location- especially if you’re a fisherman!.. sshhhh
We got there early and I knew the deer would be on private close to the road so we quietly got out of the truck and moved into the public about 75 yds and waited for daylight. We could make out a bunch of deer in the field with the binos but it was a dark morning and took awhile til we could start identifying a few bucks. They started jumping the fence onto the public and there were 2 decent bucks at about 150 yds. I knew there were several more bucks still on the private further out but they were in a little dip in the field and couldn’t quite tell what they were so we decided to wait until they crossed and see if there was a bigger one.
But of course there were some pesky does at about 100 yds and they suddenly blew and spooked, running towards the bucks still in the field and they started going the other way. The 2 in front of us started trotting towards the creek deeper on the public and I told Austin it’s up to him- It’s a decent buck and it’s either shoot now or it’ll probably be over.
He said he wants to shoot and got behind the gun. The 2 bucks had stopped just before the creek and one was perfectly broadside. I told him to hold dead on and be calm— ka-boom! I was watching through the binos and he did a giant mule kick and disappeared over the bank in one jump.
I ranged it afterward and it was a bit further than I had thought in the heat of the moment (about 250) so I was a little concerned it was possibly a low hit. We waited a bit then went over and found blood almost right away. Followed it down over the bank and sure enough it looked like he had crossed the creek. Back to the truck I went to get the Wiggys and a couple trash bags for Austin to wade across.
When we made it over we immediately found lots of blood. I let him track it another 30 yds or so while I stayed just behind him. I saw the deer in the tall grass a little bit before he did as he was pretty intent on the blood trail and was just a few feet away before he saw him. Deader than a nail, perfect shot! We took some pics then I told him it was time he gutted his deer! This was his 3rd deer but the first one I was along for. Apparently his dad and other brothers had done most of the work on the other 2 but I’m not that nice haha!
He did a good job and we got to dragging…
