Well, I guess "Fireside" is an appropriate forum to post this.

Just heard from my neighbor down at my hunting property that the entire place burned yesterday. :(

From what he said, my travel trailer that I leave parked down there was a total loss. Not sure when I'm going to get down there to check on things.

Crazy thing is that I was just there Saturday night, and things were very dry, but nothing was on fire. I have no idea what all burned up, sounds like for sure my travel trailer burned down, no idea on my big blind up on the hill, my feeders, my tripod stand, my farm implements, and a few other things like that.

The neighbor said even the fence posts burned up so not sounding very good at all. No idea if all the big mature mesquite trees on my place were burned up, or what will happen to them.

Big knot in my stomach right now, I may have to take tomorrow off work just to see what the damage is.

Sounds like no permanent residences were lost, 8,500 total acres were burned.

Of course nothing down there is worth a whole lot so nothing was insured. Depending on how much it costs to replace the fence the total damages should be under $10,000.

Sorry to hear that. I hope we get the rains we desperately need. We were sweating the junction fire. That north wind had it moving towards our place. Luckily the south winds came back up and kept it to our north.

Keep us posted.

Man that stinks. Hope it's not too bad. At least it happened early enough that it'll have some time to green up before hunting season if it ever decides to rain down there.

Sorry to hear. The last I heard about them was they were contaned for the most part, but still burning. The fires are holding up my next job out in West Texas & they still do not know when I will be called for work. I hope they end soon. Take care & God Bless.

Bad deal. We finally got our rain a couple of weeks ago and I sure hope you get some there soon. My brother who works for the Forrest Service in Bozeman is in West Texas right now fighting fires. Glad you got to shoot the big boar las week before this.

Probably lost my 5 trail cameras for sure. My two newest ones were attached to cedar posts that probably went up in flames. Hopefully my big blind on the top of the hill made it. The hill is mostly rock with not a lot of vegatation right around the blind. A couple of my feeders are metal and they might have made it, my protein feeder is plastic and it is probably gone. My tandem disc might be okay, might have to replace the bearings on it though, my grain drill could be toast.

Might have to do some work on the septic system if some of the PVC risers melted, there is a good chance it might be okay though.

I wonder what you do with a burned up travel trailer? Any scrap value or will I end up having to pay someone to haul it off?

I don't think I can wait until this weekend to go check on things. To many unknowns right now.

Sorry for your loss. There was a group of Forest Service guys from here that just went down to help out. As for the trailer if you have any insurance give them a call. They should be able to help you out and even if it's not covered they should be able to give you some ideas on how to get rid of it.

Property damage wasn't as bad as I thought, travel trailer is a total loss, but most of the other personal property is okay. My big blind on the hill made it.

Habitat damage is MUCH worse than I expected though. Nearly all of the big mature trees along the creek bottoms burned up. It was like I was walking around on the moon, pretty much everything was in ashes.

Here's a few pictures for now.

The travel trailer.

I actually got pictures of the fire on 3 of my trail cameras. 2 out of the 5 I had out are fine, 1 is a maybe and 2 are toast.

Here's the view from one of the cameras. I salvaged the card on this one but it was melted.

I'll post later some timed sequences from the trail cameras, it is amazing how fast the fire moved in.

This was the thickest spot on the property. Not sure if any of these little trees are going to make it or not.

South fenceline didn't make it, but the other 3 held up pretty well.

Pretty bad. Creating thick cover for bedding means a lot of fuel for a fire. I'm pretty bummed about losing all those huge mesquites along the creek bottom.

Someday it will rain and things will start growing again. It sure feels like a clean slate after walking around on it for the morning.

I'll post lots of pictures later tonight.

Wow that's wild. Hopefully it won't take too long for the critters to make their way back (at least to find some nice green grass even if there isn't any bedding cover around).
