Went out today for some swans and there was a bunch in the middle of an open bay. I didnt have the patience to hunt form dikes so I canoed to an island, pushing up all the flocks in the meantime. After I got settled in, they started coming back and I was fortunate enough to get one. Unfortunately I only broke a wing so had my work cut out canoeing after the cripple. The chase was a success though and I couldnt be happier. I also picked up a rooster while backpacking in some decoys too as an added bonus.

What kind of swans were you hunting? I have killed tundra swans in NC but the one you have looks a little different. BTW, those things are fun to hunt!

So, how do you cook a swan? Or, do you actually want to cook a swan!? There's always the local food bank.

He is a juvenile, has some grey on the head and neck. Despie this, I am still mounting him cuz I never got one before, he is still a dang big bird, and I put a lot of effort in getting him. I heard mixed things about the taste-maybe next yr Ill find out :)

They taste like a Canada Goose to me, just a little bigger. Not bad if you grind the meat to hamburger and doctor it up a little.

If you mount it, it will take up a bunch of wall. I have my wifes (7' wing span) tundra swan on the wall flying and it`s big! Those things are fun to hunt!
