My 2026 Iowa season

Stopped for a quick couple of shots at the range after work. Ive been noticing when the barrel gets dirty, it gets finicky. So tried three shots for an experiment. What seems to work best is 295 grain power belt with ballistic tip, 100 grains of pyrodex by volume, and Williams sights.

Shooting at 100 yards
Shot one clean barrel
Shot two dirty barrel
Shot three clean barrel

Im happy considering at 100 yards the orange in the middle is about the size of a pin head.

Where is the range you shoot at?

Just a quick update
Drove out Saturday, picked up youngest at Denver Airport. Got a cabin and went sight seeing . Other boy was back in Iowa at a wedding, he got back to Lakewood Sunday afternoon picked him up and headed out for camp. What my son told me was a few hour drive turned into about 6 hours. The last 2 hours was up a nasty ass forest service road. Got set up went bed with storms rolling through.

The boys are all excited so they headed out at 4 30 this morning with more storms on the way. Old pops is smarter than that so as I type this I'm in camp under my canopy drinking hot coffee waiting out the rain while they are out in it.

Yeah I don't go out in the rain with a muzzleloader unless I get caught out in it.
Radar looks like rain done about 8 so I have time for one more cup of hot cofee.
