Looking to get a Muzzleloader. Been planning to hunt elk with one for some time but just can't seem to put the rifle down. Now I am getting serious. Anyone have any suggestions? I would also hunt deer with it but mainly elk.

I like the traditional muzzleloaders myself. There are many good ones on the market. I would look real heavy at the Thompson Center, Lyman, or CVA. You can also look at the Dixie Gun Works web site http://www.dixiegunworks.com/cgi-local/SoftCart.exe/dgw/homepage.html?E+dgw or order their catalog. I currently own a TC Hawken in a 50 caliber but 54 would be even better.

Good Luck and keep your powder dry.

I like traditional myself. I have a T/C Renegade in 54 cal with a 1 in 47 twist this works well for both round balls and maxi's. Got my 6x5 Elk with a round ball he went 30 yrds and droped dead although now i would only use maxi balls. Good luck on your hunt for the right rifle. When you find one try the new black powder sub. Triple Seven i'm sure you will like it
