MT Wolf Season

There is no change to wolf tag pricing this year for Non-Residents correct? I thought I read somewhere that the prices are fixed for two years (this being year 2) at $350.

I'm headed to SW MT to hunt deer and elk this year and we may be looking to throw in a wolf and or bear tag....I'm leaning bear for myself and my Dad and brother may go wolf.

You are correct. It will be addressed at the next legislative session, in early winter of 2013.

Are you hunting rifle or bow? If you are hunting in rifle season most of the bears are going to be denned up.

Hunting rifle late October, do they really den up by then? I would figure that wouldn't happen until November when the snow begins to accumulate in volume.

Anyone know the fine for shooting a wolf with out a tag this year? I'm curious.

I'm sure it would be the same as any other big game animal. Why?

What is the fine for shooting a big game animal with out a tag anyway? I was wondering if the fine for shooting a wolf with out a tag would be less than the purchase of the NR wolf tag.

Well if you would enjoy losing your hunting and fishing privileges for a few years have at it, I would suggest just getting the tag.

Those are the penalties that would apply. 87-6-907 would just be for trophy big game which the wolf is not included in.
