No denying mountain lions kill ungulates, but this is a story about a lion killing a single sheep with a bum leg. Not sure if this incident qualifies as taking a toll on the herd.
 
There have been several wild sheep vs lion studies done in NMex and Calif. Lions can really dent wild sheep populations.

That's the only link I could find. Plenty more confirmed lion kills by the biologist. Some hound hunters were going to focus on that area this season.

Counted a group with 21 and then I could simultaneously see a group farther off that looked at least double that. I wanted to hike a little closer to count the big group but they had mostly moved on by the time I got closer.

I haven’t been able to find any survey info on this population. But the reintroduction worked.

Saw tons n tons of kids and yearlings

Thats the information for all herds this spring. I think thats the draft. Looks like an error on the year on the cover.

Looks like some went into 102 to the south. But there was no population estimate because of the transplant. Not sure if you've seen this before.

He thought the reintroduction failed. I would say it looks like a success.
