Montezuma/Mearns quail

After wanting to hunt these quail the last couple of years, I went this year and found a few. Found them without a dog. Once I located their habitat, finding them was not too difficult. The road trip there and back was excellent, no snow on the roads either way.

Arizona. They had an unusual snow the second week of January with low temperatures this year. Glad I had my wool cover.

Beautiful birds. I’ve always wondered where people hunted them at but have never done much research on them. Maybe one of these days I’ll go chase them.
